Survey Finds Strong Preference for Allianz Travel Insurance Products and Booking Platform Among Travel Advisors

Coverage for Epidemics Listed as Top Reason Travel Advisors Recommend Allianz

Richmond, Virginia, August 24, 2022 - A recent survey* of 1,600 travel advisors who offer Allianz Partners USA travel insurance products shows a strong preference for the company’s products and booking platform over competitor offerings. The survey found that 81% of respondents said Allianz products and services are the best or are better than most products and services offered by competitors. Travel advisors recognized Allianz for breadth of products and benefits, overall value, customer experience, agent compensation and product price.

The survey found that 86% of travel advisors recommend Allianz travel insurance to their clients always or most of the time. Survey respondents also said that 76% of their clients purchase travel insurance always or most of the time, while another 14% buy travel insurance about half of the time and 9% buy it sometimes. Travel advisors listed coverage for epidemics as the number one reason they offer Allianz travel insurance, followed by affordability and a positive client experience.

According to the survey, travel advisors overwhelmingly named Allianz’s AgentMax Online as their favorite selling tool, with 88% saying they prefered AgentMax over other travel insurance booking platforms. AgentMax is a web-based platform that can be used on the go from any web-enabled device and it allows for easy importing and exporting to and from ClientBase or Apollo/Galileo. Built in email marketing and customer notification tools also allow travel advisors to increase the number of their clients who protect their trips with travel insurance.

“We understand that travel advisors have a choice of which travel insurance products to offer to their valued clients and we appreciate that our partners view our products as the best in the industry,” said Richard Aquino, Vice President and Head of Sales at Allianz Partnes USA. “Travel advisors work hard for their clients and we’ve worked just as hard to make AgentMax the top travel insurance booking platform in the industry. We’re grateful that travel advisors prefer it over other platforms by a wide margin.”

The survey also found that 54% of respondents feel they have an extremely or very good understanding of Allianz travel insurance benefits, while 39% understand the benefits moderately well. Just 8% felt they understood them slightly well or not well. The survey found that more experienced agents have a better understanding of travel insurance benefits while less experience agents were less confident in their level of understanding.

In March 2021, Allianz Partners announced enhancements** to many of its travel insurance products in most states through an Epidemic Coverage Endorsement. Products that include this endorsement may provide coverage to customers who become ill with COVID-19 or a future epidemic, are individually ordered to quarantine, or are denied boarding due to a suspected illness. These products also may cover emergency medical care and transportation or provide reimbursement for change fees and loyalty points deposit fees if the customer becomes ill with an epidemic disease. Availability of the Epidemic Coverage Endorsement, and specific covered reasons under that endorsement, varies by product and by state. See your plan for details.

** While the new Epidemic Coverage Endorsement adds certain covered reasons that apply to specific epidemic-related situations, products otherwise generally do not cover claims due to known, foreseeable, or expected events, epidemics, government prohibitions, warnings, or travel advisories, or fear of travel, and coverage can vary by state. Please see our Coverage Alert for information about other temporary accommodations that may be available. Benefits for quarantines only apply when an eligible traveler is specifically named and individually ordered to quarantine by order or official directive of a government, public regulatory authority, or the captain of a commercial vessel on which that eligible traveler is booked to travel during the covered trip, based on that eligible traveler’s exposure to COVID-19. The benefit does not cover travel restrictions (whether or not they are referred to as “quarantine”) that apply generally or broadly (a) to some segment or all of a population, geographical area, building, or vessel (including without limitation shelter-in-place, stay-at-home, safer-at-home, or other similar restriction), or (b) based on to, from, or through where the person is traveling. Coverage may not cover the full cost of your quarantine and is subject to applicable benefit limits. See your plan for details.
